Ellery is husband-wife team Tasha & Justin, who went from friends to engaged in 4 fast days. That was over 8 years ago, and their music reflects the kind of emotional sensitivity & confidence that would turn a moment of spontaneity into some kind of indie-rock fairytale.

“It’s not like we don’t have problems,” laughs Tasha, “but that moment definitely set the tone for us. When you’re honest about who you are and you speak up about it, you can connect quickly and solidly. That’s what we’ve always gone for in our songs. It’s what we’re always hoping for at our shows.”

Ellery’s dynamic indie-pop may be best displayed in their newest offering, "You Did Everything Right.” Intended for promo only, the EP was requested too much to keep under wraps. Its 5 songs range from soothing lullaby ("Lay Your Head Down") to panicked pleading ("You Did Everything RIght") to numb regret ("After").

Ellery released their debut record, "Lying Awake" on Virt Records in 2006. They met with critical acclaim that year (national press; nominations for Artist & Album of the Year in Cincinnati), then followed in 07 by releasing a live CD, a live DVD filmed for PBS, & a free digital holiday EP.

2007 also saw them win the Mountain Stage NewSong Int’l Songwriting Contest and open for Hem, Over the Rhine, Vienna Teng, Ingrid Michaelson, Edwin McCain, & more. In Dec 07 they were selected by Paste Magazine as a semi-finalist in its "RockNReel" indie artist contest.

In 2008, Ellery toured nonstop, showcasing for the International Folk Alliance Conference and opening for Teddy Thompson, Ellis Paul, Dar Williams, Lucy Kaplansky, etc. In Fall 08, "Song for Lovers" was featured on American Songwriter's new web launch, and Ellery was chosen again by Paste Magazine as semi-finalists in its 2008 "RockNReel" contest.
